ipNX Celebrates 2024 Africa Safer Internet Day by Hosting Interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Webinar for Customers and Stakeholders
ipNX, Nigeria’s leading and unified connectivity solutions provider joined other governing bodies and industry stakeholders such as Child Online Africa, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in celebrating this year’s Africa Safer Internet Day. The theme which was “Empowering Minds, Protecting Rights: Creating a Safer Digital Africa,” resonates deeply with ipNX’s commitment to empower stakeholders with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital space safely and confidently.
In commemoration, the ipNX Retail division hosted an interactive cybersecurity awareness webinar for its esteemed Fiber Optic Service (FOS) customers and the public. The webinar titled: “Maintaining a secure and healthy online lifestyle”, was facilitated by ipNX’s elite technology team, who shared valuable insights and practical tips focused on prevalent issues such as using strong passwords, activating multi-layer protection, identifying scams (phishing and deepfakes), updating software, and most importantly, keeping our children safe online.
In her opening remarks, the Divisional CEO, ipNX Retail, Kene Eneh said “In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape where connectivity is at the helm of our daily activities, ensuring a secure and healthy online lifestyle has never been more critical. We understand the significance of not only providing superfast and reliable internet access, but also promoting responsible and secure online practices amongst our customers”.
Olufemi Ayilara, Head, Information Systems and Technology, ipNX, in his presentation, stated “As Nigeria continues to embrace digital transformation and witness a rapid increase in internet connectivity, cybersecurity awareness plays a critical role in ensuring that everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, and creatively”. It will be recalled that during the 2021 Safer Internet Day, ipNX’s Chief Technology Architect, Oluwaseun Oluboyo, who was also a distinguished panelist at this year’s webinar, had called for collaboration amongst all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the issue of cybersecurity is addressed at policy level, and cybercrime laws are constantly updated and enforced.
The webinar, which was well attended, underscores ipNX’s commitment to fostering a secure online environment to enable positive development across the entire technology value chain for all stakeholders and the wider continent. The organization promised to continue to deepen awareness by taking the campaign to schools, and residential estates, as part of its responsible digital citizenship outreach.
